Counting Cake: Finished Project

This past week, I have worked to finalize the remaining work for my Counting Cake blog. I used Squarespace to create the site. For the layout, I had the homepage be the blog page, where all the newest posts can be seen, but I also added an about page to add some depth and background to the blog. I used the branding assets I created, including the logo and branding patters, to design the site together. While, I was planning on posting the recipes in January, I posted them now with future dates to give a mockup of what the posts would be like.

Putting together this whole project was quite a journey. Starting off with researching other healthy dessert blogs, the audience, and user research, I used my findings to create personas and define my brand and blog choices moving forward. I then went on to research and create the brand, making logo sketches, as well as color palette and font options. From there, I finalized the branding and created a brand board, as well as branding patterns that I could use and reference for the creation of the blog. I planned and created 5 weeks worth of content, researching and creating recipes as well as photographing the final products for feature images. There was a lot of time and effort that went into creating this blog and it is something that can be continued on.

My goal is to hopefully continue adding blog posts, creating recipes, and counting cake. I hope this blog continues to grow, and even if future content isn’t once a week, I am excited to see where this could go.
